Mrs. Effie James Ball, age 78, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Newport, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2004, at Oakmont East Nursing Center.
Born in Newport, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Ada Price James.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Cecil Ball; son, Ronald Ball; brother, Troy James; and two sisters, Texie Ford and Nola Crum.
Survivors include daughters: Brenda Gonzalez and Sharon Moody, both of Greenville, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Alan Gentry, of Anderson, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Ball, of Travelers Rest, S.C.; grandchildren: Kathy Chesser, Michael Hinton, Angela Gonzalez, Scott Ball, James Moody, and Christy Davenport, all of Greenville, S.C., and Stephanie Gentry, of Austin, Tex.; four great-grandchildren: Heather Hinton, Cassidy Davenport, Brianna and Taylor Ball; and a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Bertie Ellison, of Newport.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson Scott Ball officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
