Pauline James Ellison, age 81, of Newport, passed away Monday, January 3, 2005.
She was a charter member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and faithfully attended prior to her illness.
Some of the things she was most proud of was having served as a foster grandparent at Newport Grammar and also having received her high school diploma through adult education having scored second highest in all those tested at that time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ada Price James; sisters, Nola Crum, Texie Ford, and Effie Ball; brother, Troy James; also three infant brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bertie Ellison, of Newport; children, Elaine and David Wadley, Nita and Harold Bateman, Ada and Johnny Pearce, all of Newport; grandchildren, Karla and Jerry Holt, of Newport; Dawn and Darrell Williams, of Newport; Jimmy Graham, of Newport; Billy and Tonya Pearce, of White Pine; Kendall Wadley and Kimberly Wadley, of Newport; Selena Barger, of Knoxville; Shawn, Tiffany, and Ashley, all of Newport; great-grandchildren, Jessica Williams, of Newport; Madison Holt, of Newport; Trevor Pearce, of White Pine; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Grace Ellison, of Garnersville, N.Y., and Phillip Ellison, of Del Rio; sitsters-in-law, Cookie Ellison, of Newport; Swanie Ellison, of Newport; Ola Ellison, of Del Rio; Mable Ellison, of Del Rio; a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Anders and the Rev. Wayne Dalton officiating, with burial in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home.
