Raymond "Ray" C. Davis, 70, of Sevierville passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Ray was born in Ohio and a brick layer by trade which he learned from his father. He was a well known Mason in Sevier County. Ray took pride in his work and was respected in the construction industry. He owned one book about construction. "When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight, nor for present use alone; let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for, and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, See! this our fathers did for us." Ray loved to laugh and help others.
Ray was proceeded in death by his infant son, Raymond Carl Davis, Jr.; his parents, Carl and Harriet (Coolidge) Davis; brother, Joseph Otto Davis; grandson, Thomas Magnum; and step-son, James Elsass.
Ray leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Brenda Davis; children, Barbara Ann Davis, Carolyn Turay Davis Sheffield, Carl Edward Davis, Sherry Ann Davis, Joseph "Joey" Davis, Christopher Davis, Matthew Davis, Billy Davis; step-son whom he loved dearly, Carson Lethco; step-daughters, Nancy, Ester, and Melanie; many grandchildren; siblings, Charles and Karen Kay (Davis) McDermitt of Stockbridge, GA, Ron and Carol Ann (Davis) Cash of TN, Steven Edward and Lou Ann Davis of Woodland, AL, James and Dora Lou (Davis) Mauer, of Wildomar, CA, Violet (Davis) Price of Belton, SC, and Norris and Norma Jean (Davis) Sawmiller of Mendon, OH.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
