Mr. Comisky was born in Fort Monroe and was the son of the late Herman and Ann Ricard Comisky . He retired from the U.S. Army in 1966 at Fort Jackson, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also retired from the Columbia Post Office after 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 724, St. John Neumann Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church and the University of Virginia Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Bragg Comisky ; son and daughter-in-law, Herman R. and Patricia Comisky of Columbia; daughter, Audrey K. Comisky of Manhattan, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Richard P. and Kimberly A. Comisky , both of Columbia.
He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Comisky Bragg.
A service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. John Neumann Catholic Church with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The Rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, S.C., with visitation until 9 p.m.
