Eldred "Jim" Timson obituary
- [S142] Newspaper Article, Standard Examiner (Ogden, UT), 15 Nov 2006.
OGDEN -Pamela Timson Carlson passed away of ovarian cancer at age 64 on Thursday, November 9, 2006. Her loving family was by her side. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Pam lived her life with intelligence, style, and class. She was loved and admired by all who knew her.
Pam was born on April 18, 1942, in Evanston, Illinois, to Eldred and Armana Timson . She grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, in a family of seven children. In 1960, she graduated from Hinsdale Central High School. She attended Mount Holyoke College for a year, and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied art history and joined the Delta Gamma Sorority. It was there she met the love of her life, Thomas Wesley Carlson, son of Raymond and Viola Carlson of Racine, Wisconsin. They were married in Hinsdale, Illinois, on August 10, 1963.
Following their wedding, Pam and Tom moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where Tom was stationed as an officer in the United States Navy. Pam attended the University of Hawaii and worked as a substitute school teacher. Pam and Tom also visited many of the islands of the Pacific including Japan and Hong Kong. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1965 where Tom attended graduate school at the Thunderbird School of International Management. As part of the graduate program, Pam and Tom lived in Mexico City for a summer. In 1966, Tom took a job with Browning Arms Company, and he and Pam moved to Ogden, Utah, where they resided for the past 40 years. Tom later started a business now known as Carlson Golf. Pam worked by his side for the past 25 years. They were later joined in the business by their son, Charley.
In Ogden, Pam began her life's true passion, raising her three children. She dedicated countless hours, days, and years supporting their academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits. Pam was a loving mother and an ideal role model to her children. She created a warm and beautiful home with her own unique style. It was the most special place in the world to her family -especially at Christmas time. Known by her nine grandchildren as Nani, Pam was the most fun, caring, and hip grandmother a child could have.
Pam was a true beauty, and she lived her life with grace and an incredible sense of style. She always looked fabulous whether she was going to a party or to the grocery store. She was incredibly intelligent -able to complete crossword puzzles with ease and remained undefeated in Trivial Pursuit. Pam had many passions and hobbies including art, music, and spending time with a wonderful group of friends. More than anything, she loved spending Saturdays shopping with her daughter, Holly.
Pam also loved the city of Ogden and was a passionate supporter of the community where she dedicated much of her time to causes vital to the city's spirit. The Christmas Village, Ogden Junior League, Ogden Nature Center, Eccles Community Art Center, and others benefited greatly from her talents and hard work. Ogden is a better place because of her efforts.
Pam was preceded in death by her mother, Armana. She is survived by her husband, Tom, and their three children, Tom Carlson Jr. (Liz Mattsson), Salt Lake City; Charley Carlson (Heather Drown), Ogden; and Holly Murdock (Scott), Salt Lake City; her father, Eldred J.
