Jetta Ellen Gates, of Newport, born November 16, 1939, passed into the arms of Jesus,April 15, 2010, after a lingering illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gates; brother, George Drew Gunter; sisters, Joy Gunter and Lillian Fine; parents, Sarah amd John Pank (Pinkie) Gunter. She is survived by her children, Michael Gates (Kathy) of Newport, Ruth Lynn Ramsey (Wayne) of Cleveland, TN, Barbara Buckner (Scott) of Bybee; grandchildren, Jamie Gates, Cathy Belda, David Gates, Joseph Gates, Rachael Gates, Tabatha Owens, Artie Sturm, Brandon Gates, Dewayne Ramsey, Michelle Styles, Nikki Ramsey, Aaleyah Ramsey and Summer Buckner; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Gunter and J.P. Gunter of Sevier County; and special friend, Unave Messer. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Artie Sturm and Rev. Ruble Barnett officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Monday, April 19, 2010 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
