BAILEY , HOWARD P. - age 84, of Friendsville, died Monday, April 17, 2000 at his home. He was a life long member of Union Grove Methodist Church, was retired from ALCOA after 40 years of service, he had 50 years of service as a Mason in the Unitia Lodge #295 F&AM, and was a member of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy A. and Nannie Davis Bailey ; brother, Claude Bailey ; sisters, Jewel Bailey and Pauline Morton. Survivors include wife, Mildred Clark Bailey ; son and daughter-in-law, David P. and Jane Bailey of Friendsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Sue and Dwayne Hammer of Tampa, Fla., Edna Jean and Billy Joe Phelps of Forest Park, Ga., Kathy and Gary Whitehead of Lenoir City; daughter, Lynda Woolery of Maryville; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Smith of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Leon Best of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Johnie Bailey of Alcoa. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Union Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Rose Mincey, Rev. Larry Best, and Rev. Charles Bailey officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Friday at Union Grove Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Union Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Parkinson Foundation, 833 West Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 or to Union Grove United Methodist Church, 515 S. Union Grove Rd., Friendsville, TN 37737. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville in charge.
