Lura Ownby Porter, age 101 of Gatlinburg, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014. Mrs. Porter was born in the Elkmont Community of Sevier County and owned and operated Johnson's Inn in Gatlinburg since 1946. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Gatlinburg.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Meed White Porter; parents, Perry David Ownby and Cora L. Oakley Ownby; sister, Hettie Johnson Kirby; nephews, Lee Johnson, Jr. and Max David Johnson; and niece, Maxine Johnson.
Survived by:
Nephew: Jim B. Johnson and wife Dorothy
Niece: Jean Johnson
Many great nieces and great nephews
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Gatlinburg Youth,
111 Oglewood Lane, Gatlinburg, TN 37738.
The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Tuesday with funeral service to follow at 4 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville with Rev. Larry Burcham and Rev.
