(June 5, 1941 - March 9, 2006) Charles Leroy Cogdill, age 64, of Newport, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. Charles was a contractor for U. S. Cellular. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mary Nell Carver Cogdill. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cogdill of Newport; stepsons, Barry Snapp, and Bill Phillips both of Newport; step daughter, Vanessa Dunkhase of Dandridge; adopted son Guy Cavett of Newport; sister, Cora Nell Cogdill of Newport; half brother, Walter Owenby of Johnson City; half sisters, Susie Owenby of Newport and Wanda Shaver of Parrottsville; five step grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, March 13, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. J. D. Sisk officiating. Burial will follow in the Open Door Cemetery.
