Tammy Ruth Gilbert Stoner, age 44, resident of 512 E. Cambridge Ave., wife of Robert Allen "Bob" Stoner, died August 28, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Newport, TN on July 18, 1960, she was the daughter of Betty Ruth Hale Henderson and the late Buster Gilbert. Mrs. Stoner was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was co-owner of Scott & Stoner Communication. She was currently a commissioner and chairwoman for the Commissioners of Public Works and commissioner of the Greenwood Metropolitan District.
She was actively involved and past president of the Neighborhood Association Council, past president of the Greenwood Village Association, a graduate of Leadership Greenwood and a board member of the Greater Greenwood Partnership and Economic Alliance. She was also a Champion for the ACORE/CORA Coalition, Advisor Council Member to the New Haven Community Center and a member of the Heritage Corridor Committee.
Mrs. Stoner was a member of Greenwood Community Church of the Nazarene and was also the children's director for many years. She was also a member of the Greenwood Woman's Club and member and past president of the Emerald Rotary Club where she was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home and her mother and step-father, Charles Henderson, of Newport, TN, is a son, Ian Gilbert Stoner of the home; sister, Poochie Gilbert; and a brother, Timmy Jay Gilbert, both of Newport, TN; and step-sister, Judy Fasel of Hinkley, IL.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Greenwood Community Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Robert Albert officiating.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis Harris, Kent Atkins, Tony Ray Gilbert, Steve Gilbert, Mikey Gilbert, Kenny Spruill, Tyrone Philson, and Dann Lay.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The family is at the home on E. Cambridge Avenue and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Monday evening.
