J.U. Buster Gilbert, age 69, of Newport, passed away at his daughter’s home, Sunday, August 25, 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Oma Gilbert; brother, Bill Gilbert; sisters, Della Matthews, Illa Mae Kinser, Bella Waddell, Pearl Ricker, and Tilda Hale.
He is survived by his son, Timmy Gilbert, of Newport; daughter, Poochie Gilbert, of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Bob Stoner, of Greenwood, SC, and Judy and Eddie Fasel, of Big Rock, Ill; sister, Zola Steelman, of Del Rio; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jay Fillers, of Greeneville; grandchildren, Cody Gilbert, of Newport; Ian Stoner, of Greenwood, SC; Justin Fasel, of Big Rock, Ill; Tara Dean, of Big Rock, Ill; Jennifer Streff, of Big Rock, Ill; Gracie Pital, of Anderson, Ind.; also host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The funeral will be held 2:00 p.m Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Ministers Tommy Goldman and Michael Gilbert officiating, with burial in Union Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home.
