He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company, a veteran of World War II. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Rebecca Garner ; and brother, Raymond Garner . Survived by his wife of 54 years, Bernice Garner ; children, Vickie and James Fagg, Jerry and Janice Garner , Glenda and Steve Beasley and Randy and Cindy Garner , all of Maryville; grandchildren and spouses, Allen and Brandy Fagg, Kristi and Mike Combs, Jason Fagg and fiancée Jennifer Hartford, Chelsea Garner , Shelley Fagg, Julie Garner , Ryan Garner and Eli Garner ; great-grandchildren, Alisa, Jacob and Isaiah Fagg and Brandon and Kalynn Combs; brother, Tommy Garner of Walland; sisters, Willie McCaulley, Vertie White, Janie Martin, Opal ''Toots'' Tipton and Betty ''Boots'' Potter , all of Maryville; many nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2004, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Greg Long, Rev. Carl White and Rev. Wayne Sexton officiating. Interment service and graveside 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blount Memorial Hospice.
