James Roscoe Allen N. CHARLESTON - James Roscoe Allen, 88, passed away on August 24, 2009, in the arms of his loving family. Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Allen served in three wars: WWII (Navy), Korean and Vietnam (USAF). He was a 32nd Degree Mason since 1957. He belonged to Masons since 1947. Chief Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Harry C. Allen and Ola Hamilton from Maryville, TN and siblings Mark Allen and Marie McCroskey . He is survived by brothers John Allen, Bill Allen, and sisters Ella Mae Carrigan, Bernice Desimone, and June Terry. He is also survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane James Allen; his children Luster Meadows, Barbara Burchard (Archie), James R. Allen, Jr., Nancy Baird, Mary Mills (Chuck), and Gail Seagroves. Chief Allen was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Archie Burchard, Jr. (USAF), TSgt Archie Burchard III, (USAF), Dirk Burchard, Charles Mills, PV2 John Robert Allen (USA), Brandon Allen and Gregory Willis. Chief Allen was known by many for his cowboy hats and his retail business at the Ladson Flea Market for over 20 years. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. until the Funeral Service at 7:00 P.M. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Boulevard, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or favorite charity.
