WHALEY , LEONARD CALVIN 82, died Thursday, October 20, 2007 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Mr. Whaley , a TVA retiree, was born on November 22, 1924, the son of Isaac Calvin Whaley and Matilda Frances Kennedy Whaley . A veteran of World War II, Corporal (E-4) Whaley served as a water supply technician with the 178th Engineer Combat BN in Europe, supplying water to the troops. Most recently, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, GA. Prior to that, he had been a long-time member of the New Mountain View Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Mahoney Whaley , September 4, 1997. He is survived by a brother, John Bradford Whaley ; three daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine Sue Whaley and Timothy Merrell Duncan of Andersonville, Glenda Louise and Daniel Robinson Cloutier of Oliver Springs and Paulette and John Theodore Higginbottom III of Marietta, GA; and three grandchildren, Emily Paige Higginbottom, John Theodore Higginbottom IV and Mitchell Nolan Cloutier. Funeral services are Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 8:00 pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Joe Copeland officiating. Graveside services are Wednesday, 11 am at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Weatherford Mortuary. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
