September 8, 1921 - February 14, 2017
Stella Demaris Trentham Shults, age 95 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home.
Stella was born September 8, 1921 and spent her early childhood in an area located near the Chimney Tops camp ground in the Sugarland's section of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. As a young child she spent her days enjoying the beauty of the mountains and playing with her siblings in the cold pristine waters of the west prong of the Little Pigeon River until her family was relocated to facilitate the formation of the national park as we know it today. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who spent a large portion of her life caring for others. Even during all her pain and suffering, she never lost her infectious sense of humor. Though diminutive in stature she possessed the heart of a giant and by any standard was tough as nails with an undeniable will to survive. Stella never missed an opportunity to brag on the grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was a long time member of Oldham's Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Sam Minurard Shults; Parents, Caleb Levator Trentham and Nancy Marinda Brackins Trentham; Brothers, William Jackson and wife Sara, Luther Thomas, Dillard Monroe and wife Bertha, Andrew Levator and wife Hazel, Pinkney Mafield, Carl Henry; Sisters, Sara Lou Cole and husband Julius, Maggie Mae King and husband Minuard.
