He was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church and retired from the US Army with 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Myrtle Lawson; sisters, Bessie Lawson, Pearl, and Cleo Irwin. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Lawson; children, James Lawson, Cathy and husband David Ewing, Linda and husband Jim Crock, Sam Lawson, and Edgar Jr. and wife Lynn Lawson all of Maryville; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, James Arnold Lawson and Clyde Richard Lawson both of Maryville; and several nieces, nephews, and his favorite pets, Big Yellow and Baby.
