He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Estelle Gunter; and brothers, Larry, J.C., and David Gunter. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Gunter of Cosby; son, Mike (Pattie) Gunter of Newport; brothers, Terry Gunter of Parrottsville and Y.J. Gunter of High Point, North Carolina; sisters, Phyllis Fisbee, Gail Black, and Carolyn Rollins all of Newport, Barbara Hunt and Sue Hall both of Cosby; grandchildren, Michael Anthony Gunter and Maddex Brown; and other family and friends. A special “Thank You” to Charlie Grooms and Ashley Week of Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice. Funeral Service will be at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the Catons Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
