Lois Grooms, age78, of Cosby, passed away, Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Garvers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel and Mabel Whitlock; stepmother, Ethel Whitlock; brother, Drury Whitlock; and sister, Estalee Jenkins. She is survived by her husband, Walter Grooms, of Cosby; son, David Grooms of Cosby; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Frankie Grooms of Greenville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Brenda Whitlock, Johnny and Kim Whitlock, Homer and Randi Whitlock all of Cosby; sister, Edith Whitlock of Cosby; granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Todd McCamey; great granddaughter, Allie McCamey all of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm, Friday, April 11, 2008 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Henderson officiating. Burial in be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Webb-Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
