FREELS , DWAIN - age 77, of Oxford, passed away Thursday evening, April 18, 2002 at his home. He was born March 16, 1925 in Oliver Springs, Tenn., the son of Samuel E. and Alma (Nicholas) Freels . He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, earning his B.S. degree in Agriculture. Later, he earned his Master's degree in Education from Miami University. He served in the United States Army during World War II, doing a tour of duty in the South Pacific. In August of 1950 he married June Rickard and they enjoyed over fifty years of marriage. For many years he worked for Ralston Purina Company in Ohio before teaching Science and Vocational Agriculture in the Talawanda School District. He was a lifetime member of the FFA Alumni Association, a lifetime member of the Butler County Retired Teachers Association, a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Ohio and the Oxford Bible Fellowship Church. He is survived by his wife, June of Oxford; two sons, Philip (Debbie) Freels and Alan (Jean) Freels also of Oxford; five grandchildren, Sarah and Andy Freels and Jamie, Lindsey and Kelly Freels ; two sisters, Maydean Gault of Clinton, Tenn. and Francis (Joe) Summers of Collierville, Tenn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2002 at the Oxford Bible Fellowship Church, 800 Maple St., Oxford, Ohio. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, from 4-7 p.m. at the church. The Smith & Ogle Funeral Home of Oxford are assisting the family with arrangements. The family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Oxford Township Fire Department or to the FFA Alumni Association.
