COGDILL, CLYDA B. PROFFITT - 92, of Knoxville, TN, passed into Heaven late evening of Saturday, June 22, 2013. A faithful Christian, Clyda was a graduate of Carson Newman College and worked as a scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratories. She was also a retired teacher of Seymour Schools, and was a Sunday School teacher and member of Valley Grove Baptist Church for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Loy M. Cogdill and her parents, James Oll Proffitt and Mamie Proffitt Delapp. Clyda leaves behind daughter, Jeannie Mashbern with her husband Dr. Allen Mashbern; daughter Nancy Dixon with her husband Gregory Dixon; granddaughter Tina Cowsert with her husband John Cowsert and great grandchildren Matthew Cowsert and Annabeth Cowsert; and granddaughter Hailey Bickers with her husband William Bickers. She will always be in our hearts, and our loss is Heaven's sweetest gain. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, June 28, 2013 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Carroll Golden officiating. Interment to follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.
