Evans, age 75, of Newport, died Monday morning at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.O. and Alice Campbell Evans; brothers, John and Joe Ed Evans; sisters, Kanzada Wyrick, Clydia Bea Poe, Molly Carmichael and Ellen Evans. He is survived by his son, Don Evans, of Newport; daughters, Brenda McMillan, of Dandridge, Shirl McGill, Joyce Garrett, Patty Stephenson and Melissa Dickerson, of Newport; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Shoemaker, Bashie Kirk and Lois Shoemaker, all of Newport. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Manes Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James McFalls officiating. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens with the LCPL Charles Roberts Chapter Disabled American Veterans in Charge.
