Emma Trentham Ownby, 94, of Wears Valley passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center in Sevierville.
She was born in Elkmont and moved to Wears Valley where she was the oldest charter member of the Valley Baptist Church and the Senior Saints Sunday School Class.
Preceding Emma in death was her husband, Oda Ownby; son, L.A. Ownby; parents, Robert and Annie Stinnett Trentham; brothers, Lee, Hobie, and R.L. Trentham; sisters, Dorothy Trentham, Minnie Watson, and Lucrettie Ogle.
Her son, Shirl Ownby and wife Mary Lou; daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Ownby; 3 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Iva Wilson, Mrs. Ruth Wilson, Mrs. Maxine Nix, Mrs. Lillian Dean, and Mrs. Louise White and husband Earl; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who survive Emma.
Service will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday January 24, 2004 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hickman and Rev. W.A. Galyon officiating. Everyone will meet at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25 at Valley View Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Valley View Baptist Church, the Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home, the staff and nurses for the loving care and support they provided for Emma Trentham Ownby.
