Mary Catherine Jeffreys, 83, of Kellogg died of congestive heart failure Thursday, August 17 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Long of the Kellogg United Methodist Church officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers were Floyd Barr, Richard Cox, Kenny Flanagan, Wilbur Jackson and Dave Trease. Honorary bearers were Frank Barr, Jerry Flanagan, Harold Meredith and Roy Meyers.
Burial was in Union Cemetery, Newton.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Jeffreys' name may be made to the Kellogg United Methodist Church, the Kellogg Historical Society or to the donor's choice.
The daughter of Walter and Lila May Russell Frizzell, she was born October 26, 1911, in Kellogg township, Jasper County. She received her education in the Kellogg School District.
She was married to Cecil R. Jeffreys September 22, 1928, in Nashua, and the couple lived in Kellogg.
Mrs. Jeffreys was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Kellogg Historical Society and the Kellogg Senior Citizens. She was a long-time financial secretary of the church and was active with the Kellogg Historical Museum.
She had been a resident of the Mayflower since September 1994.
Surviving are her children, Russell of Olathe, Kansas, Floyd of Bethany, Texas, Charlene Pickles of Livingston, Texas, Ruth Jafvert of Pueblo, Colorado. and Sandra Hughes of Naperville, Illinois; one sister, Ruth Frizzell of Cambria, California; one brother Walter Frizzell of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Frances Marie; one brother, Charles Frizzell; and two grandchildren.
