Gilbert was a resident of South Greenfield most of his life until moving to Springfield late in life. He was preceeded in death by his parents Christopher and Sydney, and his sisters Edna, Ethyl Small, and Dollie Daughtery. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Casada Scroggs, and a son Stephen and a daughter Jane Hawks. He has 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Gilbert retired from Frisco Railroad where he worked as a mechanic. He was a deacon of the South Greenfield Baptist church. A graveside service is planned. [S147] Find a Grave, (Memorial: 62234413).
