Willa M. Gilchrist, age 76, of Newport, Tennessee, entered into this life on, March 24, 1930, and after a lengthy illness, she went to be with the Lord on, March 27, 2006. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, and will be sadly missed by her devoted children and grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Addie Sue McCurry; her husband, Walter C. Gilchrist; and sister, Ola Joe Green; and grandson, Christopher Ramsey. She is survived by her son, Todd Gilchrist, daughters: Sharon Gilchrist, Phyllis Ramsey (Roger), Claudia Haney (Larry), all of Newport; Priscilla Ray (Charles) of Greeneville, Tn.; Karon Stewart, Debra Elliott, Lisa Murray (Kenneth) all of Nashville, Tn. She has 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and long time devoted friend, Morris Flemings; also several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, 225 White Oak Street on Saturday, April 1, 2006. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M at Macedonia Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Benjamin Lewis, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Gum Springs Cemetery.
