  [S24] The Newport Plain Talk, (http://www.newportplaintalk.com), 27 Sep 2004. Dennis Branch Stewart, 45, of Newport, went to be with Lord Monday, September 27, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Dennis spent an enormous portion of his time at ConAgra Foods where he was employed more than 20 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nora Stewart; father, Edward Rice; grandparents, Mary and Jessie Stewart and Maggie and Ted Rice. He is survived by his aunts: Mamie Elliott, Lillie Mae Ramsey, Delia Stewart, and Pauline Rice, all of Newport, and Newell Stewart and Anna Cofield, both of Washington, D.C.; uncles: Charles Stewart and Ronnie Rice, both of Newport; a host of cousins; and three very special friends, Sarah Brabson, Evalon Carmichael, and James Woods. Funeral service will be Friday at 8 p.m. at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Benjamin Lewis officiating. Family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Gum Springs Union Cemetery on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
