FRANKLIN , WILLIAM PERRY (BUZZ), SR. - age 74, of Knoxville, born March 20, 1924, passed away March 6, 1999, at Baptist Hospital. Member of Buffat Heights Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Retired employee of Sears, Roebuck and Co. Preceded in death by father, Sam Yule Franklin and mother, Nancy Lavina Pryor Franklin . Survived by devoted wife of 51 years, Sarah Lackey Franklin ; son and daughter-in-law, William Perry , Jr. and Tammy Franklin , Knoxville; daughter, Sheila A. Franklin , Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa C. and Kenneth N. Wyrick, Corryton; grandchildren, Kristi White, Neal Wyrick, William Shawn Franklin , Laura Franklin , Matthew Franklin , all of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Alyssa White, Chase White and Jonathan Perry Franklin , all of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Henry L. and Clara Franklin of Maryville; sisters, Ulyss Davis and Midge Hammack, Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Iva and Herbert Williamson, Rocky Face, Ga., Annette and Howard Strevel, McCalla, Ala., Rachel and Elmer Yadon, Charlotte, N.C., Nancy and Allen Pilant, Knoxville. The family will receive friends in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 1999, followed by a prayer service led by Rev. Dana Matthewson. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Alcoa Highway, Rev. Dana Matthewson and Rev. R.C. Harless officiating. Pallbearers will be William Shawn Franklin , Brent White, Jeff Pilant, Larry Lackey, Sam Kidd, Walter Love. Full military honors will be conducted by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, in charge of arrangements.
