Gloria Ann Carne Randolph, 74, of Alcoa died suddenly at home, Friday, March 2, 2012, following a brief illness. Gloria was born May 4, 1937 in Maryville. She graduated from Alcoa High School, then attended East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee where she met her husband of 55 years, Thomas Madison Randolph. Soon after marrying, they moved to Palm Springs, Florida where they raised their family. In Florida, Gloria was active in the Episcopal Church and with the Lake Worth Christian School. The Randolphs retired to Alcoa in 1993. Here, Gloria was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where she was involved in the E.C.W., Altar Guild and worked in the church office. She also volunteered for many years at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents James Roy Carne and Dorothy Gloria Benton Carne; brother and sister-in-law, retired Col. William Benton Carne, U.S. Army, and Betty Carne; brother George Benton Carne; daughters, Amy Elizabeth Randolph and Alison Lynn Randolph, and son-in-law, John R. Arrington.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Madison Randolph; daughter, Pamela Ann Randolph Arrington; granddaughter and husband, Elizabeth Anne Arrington Swanson and Matthew Lawrence Swanson, great granddaughter, Anya Charlotte Elizabeth Swanson, sister-in-law, Nadine Carne; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Her service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with Father Steve Mosher officiating. The interment will follow in New Providence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
