Josie Cogdill Sims, age 101, of the Deep Springs Community of Dandridge, TN passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by husband, Dewey Sims; son, Frank M. Sims; daughter-in-law, Nellie Sims; grandsons, Billy David Sims and Russell Timothy Sims; great grandchild, William Thomas Ingram. She was instrumental in the beginning of Tennessee Handbags. Mrs. Sims was the oldest active member of Deep Springs Baptist Church, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She is survived by children, W.B. “Dub” Sims, Carl (Martha Raye) Sims, Ray (Mae) Sims, Sherrod (Dorothy) Sims, Betty Jo Sims Scarlett, Becky (Don) Thomas and Tex (Norma) Sims; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Emmett Manley and Jefferson County Nursing Home for all of their kindness and care. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Deep Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Chambers officiating. Graveside interment service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2011 at Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Deep Springs, Fain Cemetery Fund, c/o Jewell Price, 1476 Deep Springs Road, Dandridge, TN 37725
