Evelyn F. McCarter Young, age 84 of Sevierville, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010. During her marriage, she proved to be a steadfast Air Force wife as she and her husband spent 30 years at various stations across the country and world, including two overseas stints in Japan and the Philippine Islands. A quiet, modest woman with timidity, she was a great lover of painting, flowers, nature, and the mountains. She had tremendous love and respect for God and for family, and she never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mac and Corey McCarter, brothers Garfield, Sam, Wint, Charlie, Hugh (Bud) and Earl, and sisters Julia and Helen.

Husband of over 50 years: Alton E. Young
Children: Carla Monteer and husband Thomas, Rev. Donald Gillette and wife Pamela, Paula Edwards and husband Kim, Wendell H. Gillette and wife Carol

Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Parton and Rev. Donald Gillette officiating. Interment 10 AM Thursday in Middle Creek Cemetery. She will lie in repose Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
