U.S. Veteran John Coggins, age 74, passed away Saturday July 16, 2011 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. He attended Stokely Chapel Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents Millas and Sarah Coggins, brother Walter, Wallace, Alfred, Hoover and Lonzo Coggins. He is survived by his wife Shelby Coggins of Newport, brother Carl and Hilda Coggins of Newport, sisters Annie and Wesley James of Greenville, Melvina and Sherman Blackwell of Newport, Winnie Carrell of Cosby and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in the Manes Funeral Home West Chapel with Brother Ed Parton and Rev. Wayne Wyatt officiating burial will be in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 Monday, July 18, 2011 at Manes Funeral Home.
