April 24, 1958 - April 13, 2013
Monday, Donald Ray, Jr., of Humble, TX went to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 13, 2013. He had a boating accident while fishing on Lake Houston with his young boys. Donald was born in South Knoxville on April 24, 1958 to Donald and Sarah Faye Monday. He graduated from Doyle High School in 1976 and married Jean McNair with whom he had two children. He married Heather Ferguson in 1999, raised two step-children, and had four more children. Don was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved, uncompromising in his convictions, strongly sentimental, and constantly home-sick for Tennessee. Some knew him as a hard edged youth and others knew the God-fearing prayer warrior he had become. Many will remember him as a great story-teller, as a hard worker, as a fisherman, and as a fisher of men with the Gideons. He is survived and sorely missed by his parents Donald Ray Monday, Sr., and Sarah Faye Monday of Knoxville; his wife Heather Monday of Humble, Texas; his children, Travis and Jessica Monday, of Knoxville; Christopher and Marisol Harper; Salem, Eden, Amos and Donald Ray Monday III of Humble, Texas; his grandsons, Blake Knott, and Elijah Monday, and his brother Jeff Monday and wife Martha; and sons Zachary and Joshua, all of Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Don Monday, Sr. to help with family expenses. Checks should be made payable to Don Monday, Sr. and mailed to Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will meet at Mount Olive Cemetery on Sunday at 2:00 PM for graveside services, Dr. Deron Cobb. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
