U.S. Veteran Frederick Earl Johnston, age 81, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday evening, April 16, 2013, at Asbury Place of Maryville. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Mae Johnston; wife, Tommie Jean Keasler Johnston; and brothers and sisters, Virginia Purkey, Roy Johnston, Winfred Johnston, Sarah Jenkins Douglas, Fannie Mundy, and Jimmy Johnston. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and John McGaha of Greenback and Terry and Robert Tompkins of Gilmer, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Beth Johnston of Seymour; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Johnston, Mattie Sue Hollander, Effie Fisher, and Nancy Merlino. Memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home, Dr. Jerry Russell officiating. Private graveside service will be held at Zion Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
