Robert Marvin Davis died at the age of 88, at home surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. He was born May 19, 1923 in Blount County to the late Edgar Lowery and Luda Lenora Davis. Preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Coffey, Patsy Joyce Dockery, Marilyn Marcella Lonas; brother, John Martin "Sonny" Davis; son-in-law, Kirk McDaniel. He worked at the Aluminum Company of America until he joined the United States Army Air Force to fight in World War II. He served in England and returned and married "the prettiest girl he had ever seen", Haleen Rogers, Jan. 12, 1946 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage before her death in 1991. "Little Bob" worked for ALCOA for 42 years and retired as a member of the 25-Year Club. For years he repaired clocks and watches and in later years became a juried member of the Foothills Craft Guild as a talented woodcarver. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he was sweet natured, cheerful, kind, and loved to laugh. Robert leaves so many good stories and memories. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include: Children, Glendon Davis & wife, Hiroko, Gail Hill & husband, Gaylon, Robin McDaniel, Rebecca Davis, and Steven Davis & wife, Melissa; Grandchildren, Maria Davis Greene, Emily Elizabeth Longhurst, Nathan Daniel Hill, Robert Gaylon Hill, David Andrew Hill, Monica Lynn Davis, children of Kirk McDaniel, Kristina McDaniel Watts, Kirk "Jr." McDaniel; Great-Grandchildren, Emma Haleen Greene, Elias Brian Greene, Jaxon Glen Longhurst, Brooke Elizabeth Longhurst, Greyson Davis Hill, Logan Daniel Hill, Elsie Grace Hill, baby girl Hill due in February, Jayven Watts, and Kiyas Watts; sister, Carolyn Dee Davis; brothers-in-law, Melvin & Kenneth Lonas. Special thanks to good friend Ellen Roulette and his wonderful caregivers, Gail LeQuire, Edith Teffeteller, Shane Cornwell, and Brenda Cornwell-Suppus. Funeral service 7:00 PM, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Ray Couey and Rev. Gary Stinnett officiating. Interment 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
