The Rev. Dave Michael Potter, 70, of Morristown, passed away suddenly Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home.
He was a member of Rocky Summitt Missionary Baptist Church. Mike was saved at age six at Central Baptist Church. He announced his calling to preach April 16, 1975 and was a dedicated Missionary Baptist preacher and over the years pastored several Missionary Baptist Churches including Cedar Grove, Fairview, Rankin, Midtown, Sartain Springs, Country Church, and Providence.
He was a loving husband, dad, papaw, and brother. He was loved and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. David Potter, Jr., mother Della Mae (Quinton) Potter, and his wife of 47 years Sylvia June (Carr) Potter.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn (Harris) Potter, daughter and son-in-law Sheree (Randall) Young, grandchildren Sheranna and MaKenzie Young, step-daughter and stepson-in-law Sherena (Dwayne) Huskey; step-grandchildren Mariah and Marc Huskey; sisters and brothers-in-law Sue (Johnny) Baskette and Charlotte (Wayne) Stepp; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Central Baptist Church in Morristown. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Bloomer, the Rev. Jim Campbell, the Rev. Terry Winstead, and the Rev. David Rutherford officiating. Interment followed in Central Baptist Church Cemetery.
