U.S. Veteran Paul Edward Nichols, age 65, of Maryville, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at his home. He served in the U. S. Army from 1966 – 1968 and was retired from ALCOA where he was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a member of the Betrayed Retirees and his hobbies included fishing, wood working, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dora Mae Nichols and special uncle, Junior Henry. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Carroll Nichols; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bill Long; grandchildren, Loren Long and James Paul Long; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Jeanie Myers; many loving family left behind including special cousins and aunts; and many supporting friends. Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Bill White officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105). Family and friends will gather 1:30 PM Wednesday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Hwy. for the interment. Mr. Nichols will lie in state from 9:00 AM Monday until 4:00 PM Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
