U.S. Veteran Roy McMahan, age 88, of Newport, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Heritage Center in Morristown. He was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Army where he received two bronze stars and retired from Ford Motor Company. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julia Mae (Tootsie) Reneau McMahan; mother, Estie McMahan; and brother, Gene Layman. He is survived by his beloved children, Doris Ann (Frank) Pasquarelli of Cleveland, Ohio; Silvia (Dan) Gregoire of Berea, Ohio; Dennis (Joanne) McMahan of Strongsville, Ohio; sister, Dorothy Allen of Newport; brother, Ed “Peachy” Layman and wife Judy of Newport; sister-in-law, Nancy Layman; grandchildren, Jimmy (Pauline) of Newport, Christopher (Rashelle) of Hinckley, Ohio, Lisa (Scott) of Brunswick, Ohio, Jennifer (Chris) of Cleveland, Ohio, Matthew (Susan) of Seven Hills, Ohio, Eric of Parma Heights; and four great-grandchildren; also other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Thursday, December 4, 2014 with funeral services following at 7:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Osborne officiating. Burial will be held 10:00 am Friday, December 5, 2014 in the Hannon Cemetery. Family and friends may sign the guest register on line at: www.manesfuneralhome.com. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
