Minnie Sane Lewis, age 78, of Newport, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at Newport Convalescent Center. Mrs. Lewis was the last charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene for over 58 years. She was a homemaker and babysitter for many years. Her life was richly blessed by the children she kept and watched grow into fine adults. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy L. Lewis, Sr.; parents, Andrew and Leota Sane; sister, Mary Ruth Sisk; brothers, Bobby, Burnett and Glen Sane. She is survived by her sons, Billy L. Lewis, Jr., of Bristol, TN; Garry (Tileah) Lewis of Newport; brother, James Junior Sane of Newport; sisters, Lorene O’Lear and Margaret Gregg of Newport; grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Lewis of Newport, Tiffany Collins of Nashville, Courtney Lewis of Gray, TN and Wesley Lewis of Newport; and great grandchildren, Abby, Olivia and Blaine; also other family and the numerous children she kept in her life. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, October, 3, 2013 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Martin Stump officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Special “Thank You” to the family of churches where she associated,: Seventh Day Adventist, First Methodist Church, First Christian Church, First Nazarene Church and her Quilting Group. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made to the First Christian Church.
