Whaley, Evelyn Lou, age 88, went home to be with her beloved Father on March12, 2013. She was a member of North Lonsdale Church of God. Evelyn was a bible scholar who dedicated her life to serving the Lord and loving her family. She retired from Cherokee Textile Mills after 40 years of service. Preceded in death by husband, James Foch Whaley; parents, Taylor and Lona King; and brother, Eugene Herkey King. She is survived by son, James T. Whaley and wife, Carolyn; daughters, Karen Gibson and husband Don(deceased), Debbie Cardwell, and Sarah Jane Quindry and husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Tracy Dunn, Shawn King, Arthur Whaley, Billy King, Jaymie Woods, Bradley Whaley, Zachary Gibson, and James Cardwell; 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Pauline McManus; and brother, Fred King. The family will receive friends at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN 37919, on Thursday, March 14, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to be conducted in the Chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Frank Sellers officiating. The graveside service will follow immediately in the Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lonsdale Church of God, 3255 Johnston Street, Knoxville, TN 37921.
