Earl Whaley, age 87, a resident of Calhoun, passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Whaley was formerly employed by Hardwick Stove Company for over 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in Europe where he received 6 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lawson Whaley and Nancy E. Whaley; infant daughter, Linda Sue Whaley; three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his son, Roy Whaley of Calhoun; daughter, Joyce Whaley of Reliance; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters: Zeda Tanksley of Cleveland and Margie Keener of Knoxville and special friends, Joyce and Jim McKerchie of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Carson L. Scarbrough officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by American Legion Post 81.
