Barbara Ann Frohbach, age 58, formerly of Minnesota, passed away at her home in Sevierville on Friday, March 1, 2013, after a 7-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Barb was a dearly loved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, and teacher. She was an avid chocolate and animal lover. We will remember Barb's sense of humor, incisively curious mind, candidness, strong work ethic, devotion to her parents and students, and her affinity with the furry creatures of the world.
She was a treasured teacher for 22 years at Scenic Heights Elementary School in Minnetonka, Minnesota until she retired in 2011. She taught grades K-3, and was twice honored at high school graduation ceremonies by the valedictorian of the class as their most influential teacher. She moved herself and her father to Tennessee to be closer to her twin sister Mary and other family members in the winter of 2012.
She was preceded in death by her devoted mother, Geraldine Frohbach. She is survived by her father, Louis Frohbach; sisters, Mary Smith (Steven M. Smith, M.D.) of Sevierville and Linda Frohbach (Robert Painter) of Eugene, Oregon; her adoring and adored nieces and nephews, Aly Tarwater (Doug Tarwater) of Sevierville, Brandon Smith of CA, Lilli Darwin Lopez and son, Sereno, of OR, Travis Darwin of OR, Ben Darwin of WA, Jubal Frohbach of OR; other loving extended family in MA, CA, and MN; and her cherished kitties, Nike and Willie.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Barb's dear friend Vicki Riley for decades of true friendship, for her dedicated caregiving of our father, and for helping Mary and Barb immeasurably these past months. The family would also like to acknowledge the skillful and compassionate staff of LeConte Medical Center, UT Cancer Specialists, and Covenant hospice for providing excellent care during her illness.
There will be a celebration of life with family and friends planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, "Barbara and her family would like to request honor/memorial donations to be made to: the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, www.pancan.org or Best Friends, www.bestfriends.org or the ASPCA, www.aspca.org. We also ask others to please spread awareness of pancreatic cancer to their family and friends.

While we are mourning the loss of our beloved Barb, others are rejoicing to meet her at the gates.
