GURLEY, Silas A. "Slug", age 87 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at
Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, was retired from
ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Service Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene
Duckett Gurley; son, Alvin Gurley and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and J. C. Owenby of Maryville, Wanda and
Ross Monroe of Rockford, Brenda and George Morgan of Seymour and Euna Faye and
Columbus Wilcox of Delano; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joyce Gurley of Kodak, Jack
and Ginger Gurley and Jerry and Shirley Gurley all of Maryville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great
grandchildren; brothers, Arley, Roy and Omer Gurley; sister, Ellen Hall; several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Luther Rowland and Larry Boling officiating. The interment will follow
in Clark's Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click
Funeral Home, Maryville.
