Walter Doyle "Walt" Shultz - age 86 of Lenoir City formerly of the Paint Rock Community passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Normandy where he earned 4 bronze stars. Walt was a member of Paint Rock Baptist Church and a weather watcher for WATE.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine "Jeri" Shultz; son, Todd Martin Shultz; parents, Rev. Cary and Margaret Shultz; sisters, Mae, Becky, Kate, Lillian, Betty and Sarah; brothers, George, Bill, John, and Cary Jr. Survived by his wife, Charlotte Phillips Shultz; children, Walter Doyle Shultz Jr. and wife, Ruth Ann of Claxton, Ross Wayne Shultz of Paint Rock, Karen Shultz of Knoxville, Scott Shultz and wife, Leslie of Birmingham, AL; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Bob Shultz of Wartburg; step daughter, Kelly Buckner of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Click Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Keith Kile and Rev. Ken Phillips officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. Sunday and proceed to Kingston Memorial Gardens for graveside services at 2 p.m. Military honors will be conferred by the Roane Co. Military Memorial Honor Guard.
