Mr. Michael John Owens , age 62 , of Newport, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his father George D. Owens and step-father Billy Roberts.
Survivors include his children James Owens of Newport and Amy Cadle of Morristown; grandchildren Cassandra, Chanda, Steven Michael , Destiny and Hunter Owens ; three great-grandchildren; mother Jessie L. Owens Roberts of Newport; sister Debbie (Norman) Sands of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother Steve (Nancy) Owens of Atlanta, Georgia; aunts and uncles Janice Rogers, Nellie (Ben) Brewer, Ronnie (Meschelyn) Barrett, and Jim "Red" (Joyce) Barrett. Additional survivors include numerous cousins. Mike had lived in Georgia for 30 years and also leaves an abundance of friends.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening, April 17, 2016 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Big Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. interment.
The family will receive friends from 5:00—7:00 p.m. Sunday evening prior to the service.
