RICHMOND, Ind. – Sandra Lin Duke, age 58, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 2, 1954, in Richmond. Sandy was a 1973 graduate of Richmond High School and attended Indiana University. She started her career in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a major corporation before moving to Richmond to start her family. She was most recently a technology teacher at Centerville Elementary School, a tutor at Charles Elementary School, and dedicated most of her life to working with children at Richmond Community Schools. Sandy was a member of First English Lutheran Church and an avid member of Red Devil Pride. She volunteered in the community, supporting children through Junior Players, American Heart Association, Relay For Life, and Circle-U. Sandy enjoyed Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, her animals, and was an avid sports fan including Richmond High School, Miami University, and especially Indiana University. Survivors include her husband, Max Duke; daughters, Angela Rae (Luke) Durbin of Richmond, and Allison Lin (Jonathan) Schultz of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren, Lucas and Lillian Durbin; brother, Glenn (Lesia) Mervin Jr. of California; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father figures and beloved aunt, Golda (Dr.) Blossom; and sister, Patty Phelps. Visitation for Sandra Lin Duke will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at First English Lutheran Church, 2727 East Main Street, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at First English Lutheran Church with Pastor John Walker and Pastor Brian Derrer officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
