Kathryn Jean ( Hale ) Whaley , 84, Kokomo, went to be with her one True Love, Richard, at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, from Golden Living Center. She was born Nov. 7, 1926, to the late William R. Hale and Cara (Hardin) of Searcy, Ark. She married Richard H. Whaley on May 16, 1942, and the two were happily married 50 years before Richard died in July 1992.
Kathryn enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, fishing, gardening, playing cards and dominoes, and working many years at K-Mart.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Tom) Richey, Kokomo, and Rickey (Robert) Miller, Kokomo; one son, Bill (Vickie) Whaley , French Lick; 10 grandchildren, Tandee (Stephen) Babine, Terri (Joe) Barber, Rhonda (Terry) Hart, Renee (Mike) Westbrook, Regina Hicks and fiance, Dane Clem, Shane Whaley and fiancee Amanda Rogers, Michell (Mark) Griffin, Josh (Robyn) Whaley , and Andrea Wilson; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, James Hale and Milton Truman Hale ; and a grandson, Jason Whaley .
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
