He was retired from ConAgra where he had been employed for over 30 years. J.D. believed in Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stokely and Georgia Gregg; brothers, Haskell Gregg, Bud Gregg, and James Gregg; and nephew, Fat Boy Spence. Survivors include his wife, Mary Carolyn Gregg, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Andy Green, of Newport; grandchildren, April and Amber Gregg, of Newport; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Laymon Williamson, of Cosby, and Shirley and Jim Sutton, of Sevierville; sister, Ruth Gregg and Francis Knight, both of Newport; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Rose Gregg, of Newport; nephews, Tony Gregg and Jerry (Teresa) Waters, of Newport; nieces, Michelle (Tim) Henderson, of Newport; Jody Ball, of Newport; Larry (Jennifer) Williamson, of Sevierville. Additional survivors include several great nieces and nephews, many friends, including special friend, Lacy Gilliland. A graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Gregg’s Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Garry Ball officiating.
