Frances Mulkey, age 84, rejoined Glenn in paradise on January 31, 2013. She was a loving wife, momma, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was co-owner of Fran’s Flowers on Chapman Highway in Knoxville for many years. She was a charter member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Knoxville. She is preceded in death by her parents, E.S. and Rosie Scalf; stepmother, Jessie Newman Scalf; husband, Rev. Calvin Glenn Mulkey; sisters, Clara Myers, Gladys Scalf; brothers, Paul, Mack, Thomas, Howard, Clyde, Carroll, and Steward Scalf. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Rose and Terry Newsom, Marian and James Bolinger, Caren and Jerry Rutherford, Kerry and Steve Crye, Melody and Jody Deakin, and Gerry Walker, who was like a daughter; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 8 p.m. at Highland South Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Scott Linginfelter. The graveside service will be held Sunday, February 3, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Highland South Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and the granddaughters will assist with the dove release.
