Robert Cecil "Bob" Clark, 69, of Athens, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Cecil Alvis Clark. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a graduate of McMinn County High School, Class of 1960. He was retired from Athens Products and was a member of the Athens Lions Club. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served as a Green Baret in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Glenda K. Clark of Athens; his mother, Ella Rhea Yarberry Clark Melton of Niota; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Beth Clark and Brett and Desiree Clark, all of Athens; and five grandchildren, Jeremy, Cameron, Jordan, Carson and Hanah.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Thomas officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Geer, Thomas Geer, Don Hege, Dennis Dick, Jerry Borchers, Ronnie Morris, Sanders Hofstetter and Bill Geer. James Stephens will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
