Gladys Ruth Yarberry Clark McDonald , 87, of Athens, died Thursday morning, Aug. 27, 2009, at her residence.
A native of Monroe County, and a longtime resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Jane Caughran Yarberry . She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Estelle Seymour, Lela Ferguson, Ruby Greenleaf, Mary Chambers and Trula Richeson; two brothers, George Jr. and James Yarberry ; and one stepson, Ricky McDonald . She was a member of Pope Avenue Baptist Church and was a former employee of Athens Hosiery Mill and Carver Chair Company.
Survivors include her husband, Bernie Ray McDonald of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary F. and Bill Woods of Athens, and Joan K. Jones of Gilroy, Calif.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William G. Clark of Athens, and Charles J. and Charlotte Clark of Chattanooga; two stepdaughters and their spouses, Doris and Leonard McGuire of Cleveland, and Janice and Bill Williams of Niota; several grandchildren; and one sister, Ella Ray Melton of Niota.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Van Elkins and the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Sunday in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
